There's a new reason to plan your next visit to Melbourne’s Southbank: Hannah St Hotel has just opened its doors, with interiors by Flack Studios. David Flack describes it as “part grand hotel, part underground bar, part cultural clubhouse” – but it's all super-cool, just as you'd expect. Particularly noteworthy is the hotel's focus on integrating into its location. Far from being simply a place for visitors to lay their heads, it's envisioned as an addition to the cultural scene, with The Clubhouse as its central feature: a “hub for creativity” comprising social spaces, co-working spaces and even a podcast recording studio. The dining options are also a highlight, with no fewer than five venues (a cafe, a bistro and two bars, plus a rooftop bar). Boutique brilliance.
